Human Trafficking Forum
"Understanding Labor Trafficking" held March 20, 2025 2pm - 4pm
Camano Law Enforcement Support Foundation (CLESF) participated in a forum that looked into understanding labor trafficking and multidisciplinary collaboration to meet survivors' self-identified needs. This forum was lead by a team of experienced attorneys, direct service providers, and members of law enforcement who collaborate together regularly to serve labor trafficking survivors.
The forum was presented by WashACT (https://washact.com) with funding from the U.S. Department of Justice.
This informational forum offered two ways to attend; either in person at the Madrona/Vista Fire Station, where CLESF members were available and a video presentation was shown on a large screen, and via a presentation on the Zoom platform.
Human trafficking is the exploitation of individuals through forced labor or commercial sex. Labor trafficking, or forced labor, involves using force, threats, or deception to compel someone to work in industries such as agriculture, construction, or domestic service. The I-5 corridor contributes to a high rate of human trafficking in Oregon and Washington. Globally, forced labor generates an estimated $50 billion in illegal profits, affecting millions. This informational forum/training provided an in-depth look at labor trafficking, focusing on collaborative strategies to meet the needs of survivors.
